Education has always been, and remains, a priority at the McMinn County Living Heritage Museum. Over the last year, the Museum has worked to strengthen its Education Initiative to include object-based learning, museum outreach programs, and curriculum development that are in line with the Tennessee State Teaching Standards.
The period rooms and exhibits, collections, and educational programming at the Living Heritage Museum provide boundless opportunities to engage the imagination and encourage visitors to “put themselves in the picture.” An important shared belief, central to the Living Heritage Museum’s new direction, is in the value of the experience. An active participation in history and learning through sight, sound, and touch makes visitors' response to certain objects highly personal and emotional.
